We are looking for a skilled Physician to provide Primary Care services for our service heroes and VA beneficiaries at our new state-of-the-art facility at the Lexington ParkCommunity-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in St. Mary’s County, Maryland.
The focus of a Primary Care clinician at the Lexington Park CBOC is the provision of longitudinal outpatient medical and preventive health care for Veteran patients in a manner that reflects excellent clinical judgment, medical knowledge, clinical skills (medical interviewing, physical examination, and procedural skills), humanistic qualities and professionalism. Primary care to both men and women will be delivered in a manner that promotes Veteran health and well-being via a personalized, patient-centered approach that takes into consideration the Veteran’s goals, diagnoses, and physical, functional, and psychosocial needs.
The supervising Lead Physician for the clinic will provide the work assignments for the primary care clinician and will provide professional direction. The clinician will be granted clinical privileges at the VA based on his/her specific expertise. Work will commence immediately upon completion of orientation. The clinician will be required to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other physicians, nurse practitioners, administrative staff, to deliver comprehensive health care services to male and female Veteran patients.
The CBOC utilizes a computerized medical record system. The physician must be familiar with personal computers, have adequate keyboard skills to perform all data entry (e.g., progress notes and physician orders, history and physicals, discharge summaries), and be able to navigate through computer programs.

The Primary care physician's actual clinical activity shall be a function of the VAMC Executive Committee of the Medical Staff clinical privileging process and the overall demand of emergency services.
Provides direct hands-on patient care.
Assesses patients for acute illnesses and determine whether patients need to be admitted to the hospital or managed in the outpatient setting.
Manages chronic disease.
Provides clinical guidance over the phone, by Secure Messaging and through the mail.
Ensues accurate documentation of medical assessments and observations.
Responsible for supervising and teaching medical residents and students.
May be required to oversee mid-level practitioners, such as nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
Establishes inter-personal and intra-departmental relationships to enhance optimal patient care.
Demonstrates competent and effective oral and written communication.
Provides appropriate patient/family member teaching and education.
Evaluates effectiveness and level of patient/family member understanding of teaching provider.
Utilizes the CPRS computer software/program for entering and signing of medical orders such as laboratory studies, radiological studies, etc.
Maintains familiarity and compliance with hospital infection prevention policies and procedures, ensuring the use of antiseptic methods of all in-clinic procedures.
Ensures a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
Work Schedule Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Team oriented approach to provide preventative and chronic care to veterans.
Woman’s Health experience is a plus.

Tele work authorized 102 days/Per Pay Period.
Recruitment or Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Relocation/Recruitment may be authorized for highly qualified applicants.
EDRP Authorized: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
