Clinical Pathologist- Director of Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Temple, Texas The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center- Temple, is seeking a Clinical Pathologist to lead the transfusion medicine service. The successful candidate will function as Director of the Blood Bank and Transfusion service and help with core laboratory services as needed. Responsibilities will include active consultation for all relevant services including cardiothoracic and transplant surgery, ECMO, pediatric and adult oncology and the Level I Trauma Center. The applicant will also share clinical service in the Apheresis Unit. - Board Certified Pathologist and BC/BE in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking
- Directorship of Hospital Based blood center (approximately 12,000 units of RBC collected annually along with SDP, CCP and LTO to support a level I trauma service)
- Active Therapeutic Apheresis program with responsibility for procedure management and clinical oversight
- Immunohematology consultation service coverage (approximately 1,500 serological consultations annually)
- Coagulation expertise to contribute to a growing consultation service is desirable
- Pathology and Hematology/Oncology Resident teaching
The core clinical laboratories include Clinical Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Hemostasis, Blood Donor Operations, Apheresis and Transfusion Medicine services. The Baylor Scott and White Pathology practice has pathologists in North and Central Texas locations with more than 35 Pathologists and PhDs who oversee operations at 15 Hospitals.
