The Department of Medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center (MHMC) is seeking applications for the position of Director for the Division of General Internal Medicine. MHMC seeks an experienced physician with a proven track record of academic development and leadership. The Director reports up to the Department of Medicine and will work collaboratively with the Adult Health and Wellness Service line Director to enhance the clinical, educational and research missions of the Division as well as operational and budgetary goals and targets. The Director will also work collaboratively with the Director for Population Health Research to align clinical research activities with system goals around Population health research.
The Division of General Internal Medicine provides care within a primary care network of 300,000 covered lives, including both faculty-directed private practice and internal medicine resident continuity clinic precepting. Additional responsibilities include, recruitment, retention, and career development of 50+ physicians and advance practice providers who are practicing across 21 locations in the MetroHealth System. The internal medicine faculty are actively engaged in the MHMC internal medicine residency program, and all have academic appointments at Case Western Reserve University. Clinical research is an integral component of the Division, and faculty work collaboratively with the Center for Health Care Research and Policy, a Case Western Reserve University Sponsored Center.
The successful candidate will have ABIM certification in Internal Medicine and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role within an academic institution, having achieved at least the rank of Associate Professor. A defined clinical niche with demonstration of past participation in educational and scholarly activities is preferred.
A principal teaching hospital of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, MHMC maintains a fine tradition of academics and research. The MetroHealth System is planning to redesign its campus with an innovative transformation plan to exceed the ever-changing needs of patients and programs for the community. This billion-dollar transformation is the largest public construction project in Cuyahoga County and one of the largest in the nation. By 2023, the new hospital tower will be home to 270 private rooms with additional state-of-the art facilities, population health initiatives, as well as a re-imagined campus environment.
