We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible minimally invasive/bariatric/general surgeon for a tenure track position at the University of Michigan. This would be a joint appointment at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Hospital and the University of Michigan Health System; primary clinical activities would occur at the VA Hospital.
The Ann Arbor VA is a tertiary/quaternary referral center for complex general surgery patients from the state of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Over the past 5 years, the Ann Arbor VA has built what is now the largest bariatric surgery program in the VA system. The clinical milieu would include patients with obesity, as well as patients with hernia, abdominal wall pathology, and a portion of broad-based general surgery practice. Additional responsibilities include resident and medical student education in the clinic and operating room and interfacing with endocrinology and primary care colleagues regarding bariatric surgery patients. This is a superb opportunity for a general/MIS surgeon who wishes to pursue an academic career with significant protected time for research and education. Requirements include completion of an MIS/bariatric surgery fellowship.
